Questions & Answers
Who can drive?
Sidecar is a community powered service. Drivers are friendly, adventurous, active and awesome. They enjoy meeting new people while helping them get from place to place. In addition they have:
- 1 An iPhone or Android mobile device
- 2 A clean driving record and a great personality
- 3 A registered noncommercial vehicle that they are insured to drive
- 4 A 4-door car in great condition built after the year 2000
How much money can I make?
It depends on you and how often you login to the app. Some drivers are making more than $30 per hour to cover your time and vehicle expense.
How do I get paid?
Passengers make payments security via their credit card at the end of a ride. Drivers receive their contributions whenever they like. Payments are deposited directly into your bank account electronically. Super easy.
What about safety, security & privacy?
Safety is our number one priority. All passengers are required to enter their personal information (including credit card info) prior to joining the community, and they are rated by drivers after every trip. This helps keep everyone honest, visible and safe.
Sidecar custom-created a commercial automobile liability insurance policy that covers up to $1 million of damage per occurrence. This policy is designed to cover driver liability for damage and/or bodily injury of passengers and third parties up to the $1,000,000 limit. This policy is liability only and does not provide coverage for collision, comprehensive, or wear and tear damage to a driver’s vehicle. Coverage under this policy begins when a Sidecar driver has accepted a ride through the passenger app and continues until the passenger exits the vehicle at the end of the ride.
Do I need a special license or insurance?
Not at all! Community drivers are only required to have a valid, unrestricted license issued by the state in which they are driving. Current registration on your vehicle is also required. Because this is ridesharing, special insurance is not required, but insurance needs to be in your name and meet your state's requirements. For more specific details about your coverage, including the adequacy of your coverage, contact your insurance provider.
