3 Tips To Make Your Truck Route Easier

There is one plain and simple tip to making your truck route easier: plan out your trip ahead of time. You never fully know what obstacles could happen while you’re out on the road, so planning your trip ahead of time will help you be prepared for anything that might come your way.

At the end of the day, your safety is what matters the most. Try and follow some of the tips below to not only make your trip easier, but to also keep you safe along your travels

Mark Where The Diesel Fuel Stations Are On Your Map

Running out of fuel while on the road is almost every driver’s worst nightmare. Unfortunately, it happens. You don’t realize that you’re close to being out of gas and by the time you look at your gauge you’re almost empty. You decide to stop at the next station, but you start to panic slightly because you’re not sure how far away it is.

Check Your Fuel Gauge Every Time

There are several ways to ensure that you avoid ever running out of gas. While this is not a good scenario for any driver, it can be an especially dangerous scenario for truck drivers who drive at night through rural areas. Be sure to make it a habit to check your fuel gauge every time that you get into your truck. As you drive through a lot of rural areas, diesel fuel stations can be far apart from one another.

Map Out The Diesel Fuel Stations

Before you begin your trip, map out where the diesel fuel stations are along your route. This will help you determine when you need to stop and which stations might be best to stop at. This way you won’t be caught saying “I’m sure I have enough gas to make it to the next diesel fuel station.” Simply drop a pin for each station you’d like to stop at along your route on your phone.

Have A Hard Copy Of A Map

Have a paper copy of your route tucked into your console. You never know when you might get into an area that doesn’t receive great cell service. Writing down the direction on the map will help you not get lost. If you’re traveling solo, then consider writing each of the directions down on a post-it note and placing them up on your dash. When you complete a direction, toss the post-it note. You can also use this trick to serve as a reminder for when you should stop at a diesel fuel station to get gas. Simply write down your truck’s mileage for when you need to stop along the way.

If you need help planning out your trips, or finding diesel fuel stations when you’re already on the road, consider using a station locator to make it simpler. Station locators can help you time and frustration by making it easier for you to find stations along your route.

Plan ahead and stay safe while you’re on the road!
