Porsche’s Paint to Sample allows shoppers to customize their vehicle’s color

Porsche announced Monday a Paint to Sample program that allows customers to personalize their car’s color using either classic or custom paint colors.

The Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur’s personalization section now offers Paint to Sample. This was announced in a press release. Customers can now paint a car with a previous color, including the Maritime Blue and Rubystar Red colors that were available on the 911-generation 911s of the 1990s.

Porsche says that the existing color options include more than 100 for the 911, 718 Boxtser/Cayman and Panamera. There are also more than 50 choices for the Cayenne Macan, Panamera, Panamera, Taycan and Macan. Porsche already displayed a 2022 Taycan in Rubystar Red earlier in the year.

You can order Paint to Sample as part a Porsche Centers new-car build. The automaker also announced that the Porsche online configurator will soon include the option to add paint to your Porsche online. Each car will be charged an additional amount for personalization, which adds three months to its delivery time.

Porsche can also accept individual color requests from Taycan, 911 and 718 buyers. Paint to Sample Plus is a lengthy option that requires the color to be tested for feasibility to meet Porsche standards.

Porsche puts more emphasis on personalization. Porsche recently introduced a Sonderwunsch program, German for “special request” to produce bespoke builds. This includes a 911 GT3 in the livery from a Le Mans-winning Porsche 956 racing car.
