Our Detailed Review of the Chicco KidKFit 2-in-1 Booster Seat – Updated for 2019

When buying a booster seat for your child, there are two things you prioritize: safety and ease of use. The Chicco KidFit 2-in-1 booster seat covers both of these bases, and it offers other convenient features that just make your life easier.

There’s a reason why so many parents are in love with this booster seat. We’ll cover those reasons in our detailed review of the Chicco KidFit.

Our Detailed Review of the Chicco KidFit 2-in-1 Booster Seat

One of the first things I want to point out is that the KidFit has received better crash test results than some of its competitors. Safety is always the top priority when choosing a booster seat, so this will give you a little peace of mind.

Children actually like using this booster seat because it’s comfortable, it has a few cupholders, and it looks just like the grown-up seats that mom and dad sit in.

One thing you’ll love about this booster seat is that it’s a 2-in-1 product. The highback booster can be used until your child has outgrown it, and then you can use the bottom portion as a backless booster until your child is ready to transition to an adult seatbelt.

Weighing just 10 pounds, this booster seat is easy to lift and carry. That will make your life easier if you have to switch vehicles often. It’s not perfect (more on that later), but it’s an ideal choice for budget-conscious families that don’t want to sacrifice safety or ease of use.

What We Like about the KidFit

There’s a lot to love about the KidFit, and it’s not surprising that it ranks in the TOP-13 on BeatCarSeatHub.com.

The LATCH anchors make it easy to install the seat in your vehicle. The LATCH anchors actually retract into the seat’s shell when you’re not using it. The LATCH straps tighten easily from the front, so it’s much easier to install than an infant or convertible car seat.

The LATCH anchors and shoulder belt retainer can be housed in the bottom of the seat when using the booster without the back.

The height of the headrest can easily be adjusted using a button on the top back of the headrest. The positioning of the button makes it easy to adjust the height even when your child is sitting in the seat. The shoulder strap is also on the headrest, so it moves with the headrest for proper belt alignment.

Once the seat is set-up, kids can easily buckle themselves into and out of the booster seat.

As far as safety goes, the KidFit beat some of the competition in crash test ratings. The seat has side-impact protection, and the adjustable shoulder/headrest positions improve the safety of this booster seat.

The KidFit also has two dishwasher-safe cupholders that fold inwards when you’re not using them.

We also love that the KidFit is an affordable option for families. You can check the check KidFit 2-in-1 price here.

What Could Have Been Better

The KidFit isn’t perfect. The bottom of the booster is a bit wide, which can make it challenging to fit three children in the backseat. This may not be a problem for every family, but it’s something to make note of.

It’s also not the tallest booster seat, so if your child is exceptionally tall, you may need to choose a different seat.

Aside from these two minor issues, the Chicco KidFit is a great option for budget-conscious families who won’t’ compromise on safety or ease of use.
